HO Scale Stair Stringer Construction Jig

This resin 3D printed JIG will help you easily assemble our basswood stair stringers into nice finished stair cases with little problems. The JIG has three slots long enough to hold the longest stringer we sell. You can make stairs 2-'wide or 3' wide with the JIG. Simply insert you stringers into two slots and aligning the ends. Then proceed to add your tread pieces. Let dry and lift the staircase from the JIG. Stringers are held firmly with no wiggle.

Two are shown in the picture, one empty with the other having some stringers inserted. Price is for one.

Great Service!

- 3/4/2014

I placed an order for this item, along with others, and received all of them within 5 days of placing the order.

All items arrived very well packed, intact and exactly as shown and described.

If you want accurate, detailed true to life models for your layout, expeditious and friendly service at a very good price then you can't go past Rusty Stumps.

I am yet to use the jig, however, the attention to workmanship in making it should provide great results.

Not so happy with this product

- 3/2/2011

This is another modeling timesaver. However, I did find some issues. Your website advertisement and the package insert for Rusty Stumps T3001 HO Stair Stringer Construction Jig states: “you can make stair cases 2’6” wide 3’ wide and 4’ wide.” However, when I checked distances between the machined slots of my jig I found the resulting stair cases would measure 1’5” wide 2’0” wide and 3’0” wide respectively. I checked my measurements four times.
Issue # 2:
Your insert instructions also say before using the jig, test a piece of 1/64” stock in each slot for easy insertion. 1/64” = .015 thick stock, yet I was able to easily slide a scale 4 x 10 into each slot. The “4”part of a 4 x 10 = .043 thick. Therefore using a 1/64” thick file to keep the slots open due to resin shrinkage over time will not help because the slots are already wider then 1/64”.
Issue # 3:
All of the slots in my jig were wider than the thickness of the Rusty Stumps D3002 stair stringer material. This resulted in some wobble or play during assembly and required special effort in order to avoid assembling a crooked stairway (unless one was desired)

An excellent tool

After having assembled some of Rusty's stairs without this jig, I decided I'd better get it. This was a good decision. The jig works very well and it is easy to set and keep the proper alignment of the stringers. Two stair width options just add to its value. It is a real time saver and well worth the cost. Wood stairs look much better than the metal or plastic ones that come with many kits.
