he lightening arrestor spires. There is an ample supply of nautical type white metal or 3D printed detail pieces, more than can be used so you have a choice about which details to include in your scene. The original plan was for the Peacock & Sons Ships Chandlers and decals for that name are provided along with a choice of two other names.
Because not all waterfronts might have a ships chandlers you could easily convert this structure into just about any type of business. Examples might be a tavern, fish market, sail makers, boat builder or seaman's hostel. Let your imagination work on it and see what you might come up with.
A Ships Chandler is a general store of items needed for commercial shipping, not a marina. Everything from fishing boats to ocean going freighters could find what then needed at a Ships Chandler or at least it could be ordered from them. Anchors, rope, steel cable, ship vents to life preservers all where sold at a Ships Chandler.
The Ships Chandlers is a all around viewable model. That is, it has very interesting viewing from all sides and would be best placed either in a diorama or on a layout island. The building is designed to be a waterfront building but it could be placed elsewhere if the modeler so chose. It comes complete with all pilings, braces, joists and decking in stripwood as well as the railroad spur trestles and bulkhead. The building is constructed of laser cut sub-walls of 1/32" plywood which are then laminated with Northeastern Scale Lumber basswood aged siding. This, and the method of interlocking floors and 1/32" plywood roof panels give a very sturdy construction that is not prone to warping.
Special Note: The Original drawings used to produce this kit came from Jan Shapner of Victoria Australia. Jan's drawings are the finest I've seen and he deserves praise for the quality of his pen & ink hand drawings which are detailed to the smallest level. We hope to producing a number of kits from other drawings provided to us by Jan.
