The scale building maintains the late 1800's - early 1900's look right up to the corrugated metal roofing and the lightening arrestor spires. There is an ample supply of nautical type lead-free white metal castings, more than can be used so you have a choice about which details to include in your scene. The original plan was for the Peacock & Sons Ships Chandlers and decals for that name are provided along with a choice of two other names. The WHARF is the third of six kits in the Kelley's Landing series. Only 200 of each kit will be made. The Wharf originally started out as just a small dock sticking out into the Fall Creek flow. This was even before Jack Kelley had built the first building at Kelley's Landing. All Jack had at the time was a large tent but big ideas. But just about the time he built the First Boarding House Jack also built the first Wharf. It wasn't as big as the present day Wharf and it also didn't have a rail spur but it did service the small hand pushed barges that would occasionally stop to drop off supplies. The MERCHANTILE STORE is the last in this series and is named for my late friend and master modeler, Mike Chambers. The kit is a bit of a departure from our previous offerings in that the main building is comprised of four highly detailed resin castings. The masters for these walls were made up from our laser cut aged brick sheets. From the three story, four room structure to the loading dock area, we have attempted to provide a quality kit with as much care as possible. The building structure can represent any time period from the early 1900’s up to present day. There is a nice collection of  resin detail castings giving you an ample supply to show an operating Hardware, Seed and Feed store. The original plan was for the Hap Hazard’s Hardware – Seed & Feed Store and decals for that name are provided but you are free to rename the building to fit your particular needs. The Hardware Store is an all around viewable model. It has very interesting viewing from all sides and would be best placed either in a diorama or on a layout island. The building is designed to be placed in any setting, hilly or flat, even waterfront if the modeler so chose. It comes complete with all pilings, braces, joists and decking in stripwood. There is a resin cut stone foundation casting for under the front building. The building is constructed of laser cut sub-walls of 1/32" plywood which are then laminated with Northeastern Scale Lumber basswood aged siding for the front store building and two layers of the 1/32" plywood form the back barn building. This, and the method of interlocking floors and 1/32" plywood roof panels give a very sturdy construction that is not prone to warping.
