Rusty Stumps presents a Step-by-Step tutorial on painting our detail castings written by Karl Fasolino. You are taken from the raw resin castings through a series of 10 steps that help you prepare, paint, detail, age wash and powder the castings to get an extremely realistic look. You and your friends will marvel at how realistic your detail pieces look once you master this technique. Click on the photo at right and will then download the PDF file..

Rusty Stumps has put together a How To article on our Thin Frame simulated Metal Factory Windows. The PDF article that you can download gives a step by step set of directions on preparing and installing our Factory style windows. There are options presented on various ways you can use these windows so download it and read it through then purchase your windows and build your own factories. Click on the photo at right and you can download the PDF file.

Rusty Stumps has put together a generic article on working with our laser cut cardstock, RC Board and plywood windows and doors. This article gives you an overview of the recommended steps we use in installing our windows and doors into wall sections. Click on the photo at right and you can download the PDF file.

Mike Chambers first article offers us an insight to some of his methods of Staining and Weathering Stripwood. This five page article is the first of two dealing with this very interesting and helpful subject. Nearly all of us from one time or another have wondered about different methods of staining stripwood to get the "real aged wood" look to our buildings, trestles and other wood structures. Now you have something to help you with your endeavors.

Mike Chambers takes us further along with his second article on Staining and Weathering Stripwood. The discussion continues on the various methods of painting, staining and otherwise coloring and weathering stripwood. This six page article  will help expand your understanding of Mike's methods and how he builds his top quality models.

Mike Chambers third and final article in the series on Staining and Weathering Stripwood delves into some newer methods, the use of pigmented inks. Mike discusses the various inks he has purchased and used, the methods of application and photos of the final results.

I would like to thank Mike for permission to offer these well written and informative articles to our valued customers.

Mike Chambers, again, has provided RSSM with one of his outstanding tutorial articles: Weathering Rusty Stumps Shingles. This 9 page PDF file will give you a real good oversight on Mike's methods of producing outstanding realistic looking shingles for his models.

He starts with our Random Shake Shingles in Medium Brown and adds various colorings to achieve these outstanding results.

News
May 5, 2013:

New HO scale casting are being added. The first is the wood pile #1, yes we intend to add more wood piles later on. There also an Engine House Clutter Pile #1 and a new Cupboard with junk clutter. Check them out and keep an eye out for mare as time goes on.

New S scale Stair Stringer Jig to be added shortly. Not quite ready to be photograph, shy, but it will be soon. This is one of our new 3D printer masters and the master mold is done but the jig castings for the production mold need to be poured and that mold also poured. Should be ready in a week or two. Keep an eye out for it.

HO Billboard Kits are back. The HO scale Billboard Kits have been brought back with some slight changes. There are just the color paper signs now that you apply just like they did the real billboards. Also, the price is lower, so stock up on these.

Check out the many new detail castings.  We have added a number of new detail castings to HO, S & O scale areas. Check them out and keep an eye out of the new ones we'll be offering over the next few months.

Ratings and Reviews of products is another new feature of the RSSM website. You can now leave feedback on all Rusty Stumps products to let us and others know how you like, or didn't like, a particular product. Malicious entries will not be posted for obvious reasons but even pans will be.
